Hot Style - 5 minute style

I haven't had this much fun with a new style in a while. It's easy. Next to the afro it is without a doubt the quickest style I've done in a long time.

Here's how it's done:

1. Part your hair in three sections going across.
(You can add more sections depending on the look you're going for.)

2. Secure those sections with hair bands or hair elastics.

3. Tuck the hair under and secure with hair pins on both sides to give an even look on either side.

4. Add a beautiful scarf of your choice and you're ready to go.

This is too easy not to try now. C'mon. You can do it... even just for fun

More Esperanza Fever

Esperanza Spalding

She just might be the new hope for the life of Jazz in the 21st century. I was a music teacher before I studied Communication Design. I've heard a lot of composers and singers. She has one of the best unique voices I've heard in a longgg time... and she has natural hair.

Hot Style - Simple Yet Stylish Cornrows

Hi Ladies. This is for the women who can cornrow and want an easy style. Mika does a simple yet stylish style by doing four big cornrows in the front and clipping the remaining hair into a puff. It may have taken a little work to get all that beautiful thick hair in just three cornrows but it's still quick. and stylish for the lady on the go. You can always do more in the front like five and still et the big cornrowed look. Check out more of her styles at...

Headwrap How-To for Locs

Accessory Updated

Miss Mika has a simple style here but somehow manages to make it look super-cute. How? A simple but cut blue hair accessory. A headband or scarf can easily and elegantly transform a style. If you don't have any in your wardrobe, I sugest running out to your nearest BHS (Black Hair Store) or pharmacy and buy some hair candy of your own to transform your twists from bland to beautiful.

Good Bad Hair Day

Well ladies, we all have them. BAD HAIR DAYS! One of the main things we napptural ladies do to correct a bad hair day is a hat but here is another alternative that is perfect for the summer.

Put your hair in a ponytail. It doesn't matter if your hair doesn't all fit - just do it to the nape of your neck. Wrap your hair with a scarf of your choice and then make a bun with the fabric left over at the back around the little ponytail you have at the back under the scarf. Add a flower or pin at the side of the scarf for a a super-chic look and you're out the door!

Hot Style - Bhantu Knots/ Chiney Bumps

In Jamaica we call them Chiney Bumps. Now let me be completely honest. I really wish I had the guts to try a style like this. Perhaps I should make it my mission or hurdle to jump before the end of the year. This style is for the bold woman who is 100% comfortable with herself and al about showing her personality. I think it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful ethnic styles known to man and it doesn't hurt that it leaves a nice style behind. See the post below for a tutorial.

HOW TO BANTU KNOT

Hey ladies. Here's a great tutorial on how to do the hot style in the picture above.

Easy Style - 10 Braids Braid-out

To create this braid-out I washed my hair then added Cantu Shea Butter as the leave-in. I did about 10 braids, let them dry fully then released them when dry. I then massaged the scalp to hide the parts and separated the plaits. A scarf was addded and I was out the door!

Hot Style - Basic cornrows

Sometimes we forget the simple styles that can be so chic. I did this recently at a rare visit to a salon. A simple cute ribbon or an elegant studded clip on the back could easily transform this style.

Styles

I saw this on Youtube and thought some of you might get some good ideas. Enjoy!

Hot Style - Braids Updo

My hair is pinned up in two ponytails using regular hair bands. I then pinned the bottom ponytail towards the top and pinned. After this I twisted the top pony towards the bottom and pinned. I pinned away any escapee braids and was ready to go! This style took very little time and gave my plaits a sophisticated look.

Style Your Box Braids

Here is How I achieved this style:
I simply flat twisted my hair. In the front I flat twisted two rows together and on the sides I did one row flat twisted but this depends on your preference. The back can be up in a ponytail, in a braided bun - it's up to you!
